My first ever 3D modeling project: a small diorama with the house of a dutch grandmother.
What I learned:
- 3D modeling basics
- UV unwrapping
- Texturing in Photoshop
Pipeline:
Blender -> Photoshop -> Sketchfab
I tried to replicate a house I found on AirBnb, resulting in what you can see here. I tried to match the foliage in the scene to what you can actually find during Dutch spring, so I tried to only include Dutch native plants, and made sure to include some blooming tulips.

To make the environment feel more lived in, I added small details like ruined flowers and small animals, can you spot all 7 different kinds?
The car was the most difficult prop to model: the curves and smaller details were difficult to wrap my head around at first as a complete beginner. I was happy to honor my family by bringing our great grandpa's CV2 to e-life.
I definitely over-scoped this project, if I were to make a similar one again, I would go for a smaller area. Large ones like this need lots of different props to make it feel complete, something I wasn't able to achieve with my skills at the time. In the end I'm still happy with the result and I learned a lot about the basics of 3D art.
